He was a Beam Gunner on a B-24 Liberator bomber flying from Dhubalia, India to the railway station at Nong Pladuk in Thailand, and was killed due to a collision with another plane off the southern Burmese coast in the Andaman Sea.. The squadron had just transferred from Wellington bombers.
Nong Pladuk was the start of the 'Death Railway', which ended at Thanbyuzayat in Burma.
