Remarks:
Duke of France and Burgundy, Marquis of Orleans, Count of Amiens, Chaumont, Paris, Valois, and Vermandois. He was a leader of the first Crusade. He was the first Capetian count of Valois by right of his wife. Although he is called "Magnus," or "the Great," this is apparently a misrendering by non-French-speaking scribes of "le Maisne," meaning "the Younger."
