Remarks:
Count of Evreux, Seigneur of Montfort. Being a vassal of both the King of France and the King of England as duke of Normandy, his position was embarrassing when his two suzerains were at war in 1159. He adhered to England, and handed over his castles of Rochefort, Montfort, and Epernon to Henry II, which forced Louis to make a truce by cutting his communications between Paris, Orleans, and Etampes. In 1173 Simon joined the revolt of the Young King, but was captured when the count of Flanders took the castle of Aumale.
