Remarks:
He was hereditary lay abbot of Dunkeld, thane of Dule, lord of Atholl, and steward of the Western Isles. He was slain in battle against Macbeth to avenge the death of his eldest son, King Duncan I, in about 1045. He married, about 1000, Bethoc, lady of Atholl, daughter of Malcolm II mac Kenneth, king of Scots and probably an Irishwoman from Ossory. He is also referred to by the name of Grimus.
