Remarks:
He was the Laird of the "Holm" & Brockloch.

John, succeeded to Holm and Brockloch. On 8th
November 1781 he married Margaret Kerr and had issue :—
David died young.
Anthony died young.
John died young.
Robert succeeded to Holm.
John succeeded to Brockloch.
William died young.
Jean married her kinsman, David McMillan of Dalshangan.
Marion married William Barber.
Margaret married Thomas Hastings from Huddersfield.
Elizabeth married Alexander Kennedy in Garneyburn,
Ayrshire.
Janet married a Mr. R. Dunlop.

John died on 1st December 1830. In 1799, when he was in
Possession, the lands were Nether Holm of Dalquhairn, one-
Fourth Moorbrock, and a third of Brockloch.

In 1790, John Mcllwraith was in possession of two-thirds
of Brockloch, and John MacMillan of Holm one-third. In 1819,
the land was still owned in the same way.

his spouse who died 3rd of June
1803 aged 45 years. Also David
and Anthony McMillan
their children aged 18 years each and
Janet, Joan and William
who all died young.
JOHN MACMILLAN
of Holm died at
BROCKLOCH
1st December 1830 in the 87th
year of his age.



In his will, he gave £500 pounds to daughter Elizabeth MacMillan the spouse of Alexander Kennedy, and £500 to natural son Alexander MacMillan on account of his long and faithful service. Gave £400 pounds to daughter Marion MacMillan spouse of William Barber in form of 4% annual interest payments to be administered by Robert MacMillan.

Jean, Margaret and Janet MacMillan each already had received £100.

His eldest son Robert Macmillan and second son John Macmillan were to receive a half share each of the Black cattle, horses, and sheep upon the lands at Brockloch (which previously had been granted wholly to John Macmillan).

Robert Macmillan his eldest son also received a gold watch and silver plate and six best chairs, as well as the main part of the estate.

Holm who died at Brockloch in the Parish of Carsphairn
and Commisariot of Kircudbright on the
1st day of December 1830
1. Cash in House - £10
2. There was owing to deceased by Robert
McMillan now of Holm his eldest son, being
balance due at Martinmas 1830 0f the
half years rent of Nether and Upper Holm
of Dalquhairn and one fourth of Muirbrock - £80
3. There was owing to the deceased by David McMillan
of Viewfield his son in law a balance of £822.17.6
Interest thereon at 5 percent £185.3.11
Which the debtor being insolvent is worth no
more than the amount of a legacy or provision
left by the deceased to his daughter
Jean McMillan wife of the deceased's Disposition
& Settlement in favour of his son Robert
McMillan, dated 6th December 1816 which legacy
a provision is - £300
4. The deceased's stock & crop valued by William
Gibson in Muir and James Mitchell in Garryhorn
conform to Inventory and appraisment 26 March 1831 - £443.19.6
5. The deceased Household furniture including
silver plate bed and table linen and body
clothes valued by William McCandlish
joiner in Newgalloway conform to Inventory and
appraisement 2 March 1831. - £131.5.7
