Remarks:
He was the founder of Tickford Priory near Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. He was living in 1130. He married possibly a daughter of William FitzAnsculf, a Domesday tenent with lands in several counties, whose lands he eventually acquired. The lands included Dudley, Worcestershire; and Newport [Pagnall], Buckinghamshire. He may be a younger brother of Ralph Paynel, sheriff of Yorkshire in 1088.
