Remarks:
The nobles didn't like the influence that PIERS DE GAVESTON had over the king. As a result Guy de Beauchamp and others seized Gaveston (King Edward II's homosexual lover), took him to Warwick Castle, and after a quick trial executed him (by decapitation) June 19, 1312. The nobles hated Gaveston, particularly Guy de Beauchamp, whom Piers mockingly referred to as "The Black Dog of Arden". Guy de Beauchamp eventually received a royal pardon for the murder.
