Remarks:

Fought in the opening stages of the Hundred Years War. Took part in the Battles of Sluys (1340) and Crecy (1346) and naval victory off Winchelsea over the Spaniards (1350). Warden of the Northumberland coast and Joint Warden of the Marches in 1352. Appointed Marshal of the Royal Army at Calais in 1355.
