ROGER LA ZOUCHE, son and heir, born 1240-42, was assaulted with his father, by John (de Warenne), Earl of Surrey, in Westminster Hall,, 1 July 1270, and was to have seisin of his lands, having done homage, 20 October following. He was present in Council, 12 November 1276, when judgment was pronounced against Llewelin; was summoned for service against the Welsh, 1277, 1282 and 1283; and was summoned, 28 June to attend the Assembly to be held at Shrewsbury, 30 September 1283. He married, before 1267, Ela, daughter of Stephen LONGESPEE, sometime Seneschal of Gascony and Justiciar of Ireland [3rd son of William LONGESPEE, EARL OF SALISBURY), being his 1st daughter by Emeline, widow of Hugh (DE LACY), EARL OF ULSTER [IRL] (by whom she had Egidia {Giles, Maud, Matilda} DE LACY ), daughter and coheir of Walter DE RIDELISFORD, lord of Bray. She, who was (in her issue) her mother's coheir, died before 19 July 1276. He died shortly before 15 October 1285. [CP 12[2]:934-5]
