Major Richard Brougham Denny was born on 24 June 1889.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Richard Denny and Mary Guppy.2 He married, firstly, Sybil Nina Evans-Freke, daughter of Francis N. Evans-Freke, on 21 April 1928.1 He and Sybil Nina Evans-Freke were divorced in 1963.1 He married, secondly, Edith Winifred Winstone, daughter of George Arthur Winstone, on 10 May 1967.1 He died on 31 August 1967 at age 78.1
Major Richard Brougham Denny was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Somerset Light Infantry.1 He fought in the First World War in 1915, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He was GSO, War Office between 1915 and 1917.1 He was decorated with the award of Order of St. George of Russia.1 He was Assistant Military Attaché to Peking between 1917 and 1919.1 He was decorated with the award of Order of the Rising Sun of Japan.1 He was GSO, War Office between 1919 and 1922.1 He was Garrison Adjutant of the Aldershot between 1939 and 1940.1
