Henry Evelyn Arthur Platt was educated at Eton and Sandhurst. He joined the 19th Hussars and was a Captain during the First World War. He had a a dispute with his Major over the safety of his men and transferred to the Coldstream Guards in October 1915. He was killed in action near Railway Wood outside Ypres on the 15th May 1916.
