When Jean was a young girl she spent a holiday near Loch Linnhe on the west coast. She was so enraptured with the beauty of the area that she resolved to call her daughter Onich and her son Linnhe.
After her marriage she lived at Seacraig in Nairn a short walk from the Golf Links.
Jean had a brother Robert who emigrated to Dunedin, New Zealand between the wars who had a daughter Rhona.
