Remarks:
Charles Churchill (c.1720-1812) was the colonel and son of the governor Charles Churchill by Anne Oldfield, Member of Parliament. His grandfather, also Charles Churchill, was a British army officer and brother of the 1st Duke of Marlborough. In 1791, with his encouragement, Nottingham played its first-ever cricket match against Marylebone Cricket Club and was thoroughly dismissed, first by ten wickets and then, with 22 men on the park, by thirteen runs.
