Remarks:
Edward had wanted her to become his mistress, but she held out for marriage. Edward, bewitched by her beauty, finally proposed. Elizabeth, who proved to be avaricious and grasping, quickly persuaded her husband to arrange advantageous marriages amongst the nobility for her large and needy family. This behaviour suceeded in alienating Warwick, turning him from Edwards supporter to implacable enemy, and set in motion the sequence of events which lead him to turn from York to Lancaster.
