BIOGRAPHICAL: his ability to father male progeny was no longer in doubt. Henry had a particular fondness for this child, who was given titles and an income mading him the richest person in the kingdom after the King.
Young Fitzroy was brought up with Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey at Windsor, who was to become Richmond's closest friend and brother-in-law, as he was to marry his sister Mary Howard.
