Remarks:

Earl of Cornwall, created April, 1141. He was an illegitimate son of Henry I. He is also referred to as Reginald FitzHenry, and Reginald or Reynold de Dunstanville. He was sheriff of Devon, 1173 to 1175. He was created earl of Cornwall about April, 1141, by the Empress Maud, but the title was fully recognized by Stephen. He loyally supported the Empress, his half sister, throughout the civil war, when his position in the west, where she was strongest, was of great importance. He was a witness to the compromise between Stephen and Henry in 1153. He was prominent in the service of Henry II. After his death, the earldom reverted to the crown.
