Birth:
of Oswestry, Shropshire, England
Father:
A FitzFlaald
Mother:

Death:

Remarks:

Feudal lord of Oswestry. He was sheriff of Shropshire by 1138. He supported the Empress Maud and her brother, Robert of Gloucester, in their war with King Stephen. He lost his lands in consequence, and was forced to seek asylum, probably at the court of the earl of Chester. He regained his lands and apparently the office sheriff of Shropshire when Henry II came to the throne in December, 1154. With the death of Maredudd ap Bleddyn in 1155, he regained control of Oswestry, which had been held by his father but was seized by the Welsh. As a reward for his support, Henry II granted the marriage of the rich heiress, Isabel de Say. She was his second wife. His first wife was Christiana, a niece of earl Robert of Gloucester. He apparently had no surviving sons by his first marriage.,
