Remarks:
As ÒJudith the CountessÓ she is recorded in Domesday Book as having estates in many counties in 1086, most of them apparently gifts from the King, her uncle. She held Huntingdon in dower. She founded the nunnery at Elstow, near Bedford. She was one of her husbandÕs accusers in 1076, but after his execution she arranged for his honorable burial at Crowland Abbey.
