Remarks:
He was king from 971 to 995, when he was succeeded by his third cousin once removed. He is said to have been killed by his own men at Fettercairn, through the treachery of Finella, daughter of Cunthar/Cuncar, earl of Angus. Kenneth succeeded after the violent death of his second cousin, Culen, and was then himself killed by Constantine III, son of Culen. Kenneth III, nephew of Kenneth II, killed Constantine III and was in his turn killed by Malcolm II, son of Kenneth II. Malcom II tried to secure his position by liquidating Boilhe, who was the son of either Kenneth II or Kenneth III, but this did not prevent Malcolm II's grandson, Duncan I from being killed by Macbeth.,
